E-STAT: The ultimate interactive learning tool

The 2002 edition of E-STAT, Statistics Canada's interactive learning tool, contains new features that make it even more user-friendly and versatile for students and teachers.

E-STAT 2002 combines a wealth of socio-economic data with a new dynamic multi-dimensional access that makes finding information easier than ever. It also includes data from the 2001 Census of Population and 2001 Census of Agriculture, as well as from historical censuses.

E-STAT lets you bring data to life in colourful graphs and maps, complemented by text. Students can access selected articles from Statistics Canada publications such as the Canada Year Book 2001, Canadian social trends, Health reports, Human activity and the environment 2000, The Graphical Overview of the Criminal Justice Indicators and many others.

For the plugged-in teacher, E-STAT contains a host of curriculum-relevant activities developed by educators specifically for senior elementary and up. Resources for social studies courses, organized by province, grade, and major topic, are linked to relevant data. Easy-to-use, incredibly thorough and dynamic, E-STAT is a stimulating teaching and learning resource that spurs students on to discover Canada - its past, its present and even its future!

Schools are invited to join over 8,700 Canadian educational institutions that already subscribe to E-STAT.

The eleventh edition of E-STAT is now available on Statistics Canada's Web site (), under Learning resources. Canadian educational institutions can obtain free access to the Internet version (10F0174XIB). Register for E-STAT today! Teachers and students can access E-STAT from home with the institution's user identification and password.

For more information, visit http://estat.statcan.ca, or contact the education representative in your region. The E-STAT team can be reached directly (1-800-465-1222; e-stat@statcan.gc.ca).
