Wednesday, January 26, 2005 Travel-logThe latest issue of Travel-log, Statistics Canada's quarterly tourism newsletter, features the article "The tourism trade balance between Canada and the United States, 1991 to 2003." The balance of payments is an important fundamental concept in any open economy since its status provides information about a country's economic transactions with non-residents for a specific period of time. This article presents a trend analysis of the tourism trade balance between Canada and the United States using data from the International Travel Survey. Specifically, the article is an attempt to identify the factors or travel characteristics that had the greatest effect on the tourism trade balance since 1991. Each issue of Travel-log features the latest travel indicators, international travellers' characteristics, the international travel account and domestic travel. This issue of Travel-log, Vol. 23, no. 1 (87-003-XIE, $5/$16) is now available.
