Environmental goods and services sector
The Environmental Goods and Services Sector (EGSS) comprises all producers of environmental goods and services. As such, it covers what has been commonly referred to as the environment industry. Statistics on the EGSS provide a supply-side measure of the production of environmental goods and services.
Details on the international standards for the compilation of these statistics can be found in section 4.3.3 of the United Nations System of Environmental-Economic Accounting: Central Framework (SEEA-CF).
Statistics Canada conducts the Survey of Environmental Goods and Services which provides a measure of the EGSS in Canada.
