Homeowners spent an average of $1,810 repairing or renovating their homes in 1999, an amount not significantly different from 1998, and still below the level of spending of the early 1990s. The 1999 Homeowner Repair and Renovation Survey collected information in March 2000 from a sample of more than 20,000 homeowners about expenditures made in 1999 on repairs and renovations to their homes.
