1. Full-time equivalent (FTE) enrolments represent full-time elementary-secondary enrolments on September 30th (or as close as possible thereafter) of the school year, plus the sum of part-time enrolments according to their percentage of a full-time enrolment allocation (determined by the province or territory).
2. Figures may not add up to totals because of rounding. Data for the Adult Programs and Vocational Programs are included in the figures, but are not reported by all provinces and territories.
3. Includes enrolments in vocational programs for youth and adults.
4. Includes enrolments in adult programs and vocational programs for youth and adults.
5. Excludes publicly funded hospital and provincial schools, care, treatment and correctional facilities. Data for 2006/2007 are not directly comparable with previous years due to a change in data collection methods.
6. Until 2000/2001, includes enrolments in adult programs and professional training under the authority of the school boards or districts.
7. Enrolments are for provincially-funded schools, which include "associated independent" schools and exclude "historic high schools", "independent" and "First Nations" schools, and postsecondary sites. Enrolments in adult programs are included.
8. Includes enrolments in adult programs. Full-time equivalent enrolments in adult programs are assumed to be the same as the headcount for B.C.
9. Data for regular programs for youth are estimated for 2000/2001 to 2002/2003.

Notes: Due to the nature of Elementary-Secondary Education Statistics Project (ESESP) data collection, these data are updated on an ongoing basis and are therefore subject to further revisions. These data are for public schools only and do not include private schools and federal schools. Certain jurisdictions include all students whether or not they are funded, while others include only funded students.
