1. Full-time equivalent (FTE) enrolments represent the number of full-time students enrolled as of September 30 (or as close as possible thereafter) of the school year, plus the sum of part-time enrolments according to the portion of time spent in the classroom and for which students are funded.
2. Figures may not add up to totals because of rounding. Data for adult programs and vocational programs are included in the figures, but are not reported by all provinces and territories.
3. Includes enrolments in vocational programs for youth and adults.
4. Includes enrolments in adult programs and vocational programs for youth and adults.
5. Excludes publicly funded hospital and provincial schools, care, treatment and correctional facilities. Data for 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 are not directly comparable with those from previous years due to a change in data collection methods.
6. Until 2000/2001, included enrolments in adult programs and professional training under the authority of the school boards or districts. Enrolments in vocational programs offered at the postsecondary level are excluded.
7. For 2007/2008, enrolments are for provincially funded schools, which include "associated independent" schools and exclude "historic high schools", "independent" and "First Nations" schools, and postsecondary sites. Enrolments in adult programs are included.
Notes: Due to the nature of ESESP data collection, these data are updated on an ongoing basis and are therefore subject to further revisions. These data are for publicly funded schools only and do not include private schools and federal schools.
