Respondent recruitment and success with spirometry testing

Figure 1 shows how respondents to the 2007 to 2009 Canadian Health Measures Survey (CHMS) were selected for the current study of lung function.

Out of 5,604 CHMS respondents, 5,305 performed at least one acceptable spirometry test, and 5,019 performed at least two acceptable spirometry tests.  A total of 4,963 respondents aged 6 to 79 had acceptable spirometry results.  Of these, the 2,487 who were aged 35 to 79 were selected for analysis.
