Current (daily and occasional) smoking rates of 15- to 17-year olds, by selected characteristics, Canada, 2011

This horizontal bar chart illustrates the current smoking rates of 15- to 17-year olds, by selected characteristics for Canada in 2011.
Along the Y axis are categories of several characteristics. From top to bottom, smoking in the home which is divided into no regular smoker in the home and someone regularly smokes; household income is divided into higher income and lower income; and sex is divided into females and males.  Each group shows one bar with the percentage of 15- to 17-year olds in the group who smoke.
The X axis is measured in percentages and increases by increments of 5 from 0 to 25.
The total current smoking rate (daily and occasional) of all 15- to 17-year old Canadians is 9.4%.
A variable, smoking in the home, is divided into two where: (1) no one regularly smokes, and (2) someone regularly smokes.  Of 15- to 17-year old Canadians, 7.0% were current smokers in 2011 when no one regularly smoked in the home; and 22.4% were current smokers if someone regularly smoked in the home.
A variable, household income, is divided into two: (1) higher income, and (2) lower income.  Of, 15- to 17-year old Canadians, 7.0% were current smokers in 2011 if the household income was higher; and 11.7% were current smokers if the household income was lower.
Finally, the variable sex is divided into: (1) females, and (2) males.  Of 15- to 17-year old Canadians, 8.7% were current smokers in 2011 if they were female; and 10.1% were current smokers if they were male.
