This is a vertical bar graph that illustrates the percentage of women aged 18 to 79 that fall within each of the body mass index (BMI) categories, by age groups.
The Y axis represents the percentage of the female population and increases by increments of 10.0 from 0.0 up to 60.0.
On the X axis from left to right are the BMI categories: underweight, normal weight, overweight and a combination category for obese classes I, II and III. These categories are further divided by the following age groups: total, 18 to 39, 40 to 59 and 60 to 79.
The results are the following:
- Underweight: total 2.2%, 18 to 39 5.0%
- Normal weight: total 44.7%, 18 to 39 52.4%, 40 to 59 44.6%, 60 to 79 30.8%
- Overweight: total 29.5%, 18 to 39 22.9%, 40 to 59 31.0%, 60 to 79 38.4%
- Obese class I, II, III: total 23.6%, 18 to 39 19.7%, 40 to 59 23.9%, 60 to 79 30.3%
The data for the underweight category for two age groups were excluded because the coefficient of variation was too high.
