The norms used in this table can be found in T.J. Cole, M.C. Bellizzi , K.M. Flegal & W.H. Diets, 2000, "Establishing a Standard Definition for Child Overweight and Obesity Worlwide: International survey," The BMJ , Vol. 320, p. 1240-1243. Total household population aged 3 to 17, except those meeting the exclusion criteria (see the Canadian Health Measures Survey (CHMS) Data User Guide: Cycle 2). The sample size for 3 to 5 year olds produces reliable national estimates for both sexes combined only.
