"Occupancy rate" is a calculation based on the number of beds staffed that were occupied during the reporting period. Also referred to as percentage occupancy. (Total days of care multiplied by 100) divided by (beds staffed multiplied by 365 or 366 for leap year).
"Beds staffed and in operation" refers to the number of beds that are either occupied or available for new resident admissions on the last day of the reference period.
