Table summary
This table displays the number of federal personnel engaged in science and technology activities. The row headers divide the table into three sections. The first section shows information on federal personnel by activity for total sciences. The second section shows information for natural sciences and engineering federal personnel by activity. The third section shows information for social sciences and humanities federal personnel by activity. The column headers provide preliminary numbers for the current reference year and numbers for the previous four years, the last two years' being revised. A note indicates that the personnel counts are reported as full-time equivalents. A second note indicates that components may not add to totals due to rounding.
