This vertical bar chart illustrates the percentage of persons who were living below the before-tax low income cut-off in 2005. Data by Aboriginal identity group and sex are provided.

The X axis shows three groups, namely:

Both sexes
Men
Women

Each group is composed of four vertical bars.

The first bar represents the percentage of the total Aboriginal population living below the before-tax low income cut-off.
The second bar represents the percentage of First Nations people living below the before-tax low income cut-off.
The third bar represents the percentage of Métis living below the before-tax low income cut-off.
The fourth bar represents the percentage of the total non-Aboriginal population living below the before-tax low income cut-off.

The Y axis is measured in percentages and increases by increments of ten from 0 to 70.

31.0% of Aboriginal people of both sexes were living below the before-tax low income cut-off.
49.3% of First Nations people of both sexes were living below the before-tax low income cut-off.
17.6% of Métis people of both sexes were living below the before-tax low income cut-off.
9.2% of non-Aboriginal people of both sexes were living below the before-tax low income cut-off.

25.5% of Aboriginal men were living below the before-tax low income cut-off.
38.2% of First Nations men were living below the before-tax low income cut-off.
16.3% of Métis were living below the before-tax low income cut-off.
7.7% of non-Aboriginal men were living below the before-tax low income cut-off.

36.8% of Aboriginal women were living below the before-tax low income cut-off.
60.6% of First Nations women were living below the before-tax low income cut-off.
17.9% of Métis women were living below the before-tax low income cut-off.
10.8% of non-Aboriginal women were living below the before-tax low income cut-off.
