This vertical bar chart illustrates the unemployment rates in 2006 for people aged 25 to 54 years of age by Aboriginal identity group and sex.

The X-axis shows four population groups, namely:

Aboriginal population
First Nations people
Métis
Non-Aboriginal population

Each population group is composed of three vertical bars.

The first bar represents the unemployment rate for both sexes.
The second bar represents the unemployment rate for men.
The third bar represents the unemployment rate for women.

The Y-axis is measured in percentages and increases by increments of one from 0 to 16.

8.7% of Aboriginal people of both sexes were unemployed.
7.4% of Aboriginal men were unemployed.
9.9% of Aboriginal women were unemployed.

12.1% of First Nations people of both sexes were unemployed.
10.6% of First Nations men were unemployed.
13.6% of First Nations women were unemployed.

6.4% of Métis people of both sexes were unemployed.
5.4% of Métis men were unemployed.
7.4% of Métis women were unemployed.

3.5% of non-Aboriginal people of both sexes were unemployed.
3.3% of non-Aboriginal men were unemployed.
3.7% of non-Aborriginal women were unemployed.

Note:Data for Inuit are not shown due to potential data quality issues that can result from small counts that arise when several variables are cross-tabulated.
