Description for chart 2.1

Chart 2.1 Number of persons with French as mother tongue and as first official language spoken, Manitoba, 1951 to 2006
Notes: Since the question on language used most often at home was asked for the first time on the 1971 Census, we cannot derive the first official language spoken variable before 1971. Except for the 1951 to 1971 censuses, the multiple responses were equally redistributed.
