The title of the map is "Large urban centres in the Prairies have younger populations"

This is a map of Canada by province and territory showing the proportions of the population aged 65 years and older in Canada, the census metropolitan areas (CMAs) and outside the CMAs in 2021.

The CMAs of Saguenay, Trois-Rivières, Peterborough, St. Catharines–Niagara and Nanaimo had the highest proportions of the population aged 65 years and older, compared with Canada. The CMAs of Saskatoon, Regina, Edmonton, Red Deer and Calgary had the lowest proportions of the population aged 65 years and older, compared with Canada. The three most populous CMAs (all ages) were Montréal, Toronto and Vancouver.

The proportion of the population aged 65 years and older in Canada in 2021 was 19.0%, the proportion of the CMAs was 17.5%, and the proportion outside of the CMAs was 23.1%.

The proportion of the population aged 65 years and older in Saguenay, Quebec in 2021 was 24.4%.

The proportion of the population aged 65 years and older in Trois-Rivières, Quebec in 2021 was 25.7%.

The proportion of the population aged 65 years and older in Montréal, Quebec in 2021 was 18.0%.
