Investment in residential building construction for Canada decreased 1.2% in February compared to January 2024. Newfoundland and Labrador was up 25.7%, Prince Edward Island was down 14.8%, Nova Scotia was up 2.8%, New Brunswick was up 2.6%, Quebec was down 1.3%, Ontario was down 2.8%, Manitoba was up 1.3%, Saskatchewan was down 7.4%, Alberta was up 0.8%, British Columbia was up 0.4%, Yukon was down 11.3%, Northwest Territories was up 25.3%, Nunavut was up 40.7%.

Total investment for Canada was $13,385.1 million, total investment for Newfoundland and Labrador was $77.9 million, total investment for Prince Edward Island was $85.2 million, total investment for Nova Scotia was $425.3 million, total investment for New Brunswick was $249.1 million, total investment for Quebec was $2,408.1 million, total investment for Ontario was $5,219.9 million, total investment for Manitoba was $439.4 million, total investment for Saskatchewan was $272.7 million, total investment for Alberta was $1,922.1 million, total investment for British Columbia was $2,257.1 million, total investment for Yukon was $16.0 million, total investment for Northwest Territories was $4.2 million, total investment for Nunavut was $8.1 million.

Single homes: Market share was 32.0%, total investment totalled $1,884.5 million, representing a year-over-year decrease of 13.0% or $282.6 million.

Semi-detached homes: Market share was 2.9%, total investment totalled $168.0 million, representing a year-over-year increase of 3.2% or $5.2 million.

Row homes: Market share was 10.2%, total investment totalled $598.6 million, representing a year-over-year decrease of 4.9% or $31.1 million.

Condo and rental apartments: Market share was 55.0%, total investment totalled $3,242.7 million, representing a year-over-year increase of 8.4% or $251.1 million.
