1. Before the chat session
You must login to My StatCan in order to participate in a chat session. From the My StatCan home page, select the Chat with an expert icon in the Online discussions topic box. You will be redirected back to the Chat with an expert module. You can then select the "Enter" button.
We encourage you to take a look at the data release related to the chat session you will be joining. This will help you familiarize yourself with the topic at hand before submitting your questions to our experts.
2. During the chat session
Once a chat session has begun, you will be able to submit your questions to our experts, using the question box. Please read the session history to make sure that your question has not already been answered. If your question does not immediately appear, please do not re-submit. It may have been placed in a queue and will appear when approved by the moderator.
3. After the chat session
As the chat session has a specific duration, our experts may not have enough time to address every question submitted. These questions will be answered by email in the following business days.
Transcripts will also be published in both official languages shortly after each chat session.
