StatCan COVID-19: Data to Insights for a Better Canada

A series of articles on various subjects which explore the impact of COVID-19 on the socio-economic landscape. New articles will be released periodically.

  • Commuting to work during COVID-19

    This article examines the changes in the mode of transportation of workers over the course of the pandemic, and examines the characteristics of those who switched to teleworking. The article also provides new insights on the concerns expressed by those who were using public transit before the pandemic and are not yet back in their regular place of work. It uses data from the third iteration (June 15, 2020 to June 21, 2020) of Statistics Canada's new Canadian Perspectives Survey Series (CPSS).

  • Trade in medical and protective goods, June 2020

    This article provides an overview of Canada's international merchandise trade in personal protective equipment in June 2020, as well as an update on exports and imports of medical and protective goods.

  • Willingness of Canadians to use a contact tracing application

    This article examines the willingness of Canadians to use tracing applications, whether or not they feel comfortable sharing the data with government officials, and reasons why they would not use the applications. Additionally, differences on these perceptions and reasons of using or not using tracing applications are explored by demographic characteristics including region, sex, and age.
