Statistics Canada surveys

The current COVID-19 situation has forced organizations such as Statistics Canada to review operations, with the primary objective being the health and safety of employees and Canadians.

Your national statistical agency responded to this challenge in a very short timeframe by setting up the necessary infrastructure for its dedicated employees to collect information vital to the economy and society—remotely and safely. Statistics Canada employees are working hard to support critical government operations with data, analytics and methodological expertise.

That said, the health and well-being of Canadians and our employees is of paramount importance and as such Statistics Canada will be conducting surveys for Statistics Canada's critical programs only by telephone and online.

To maintain the confidence of telephone and online survey respondents, the agency makes it easy for Canadians to validate the legitimacy of the survey and interviewers. We encourage respondents to visit our Survey FAQ web page which provides simple-to-follow instructions or call us at 1-877-949-9492 (toll-free).

Please note that our telephone, email and chat services for data inquiries are still available.

We thank Canadians who keep answering the phone and providing us with information on how they are doing, and we thank businesses who continue to inform us about their situation. We value the trust you place in us to keep your information safe and to give leaders the best information for making the important decisions that affect us all.

Statistics Canada is committed to serving its clients in a prompt, reliable, courteous, and fair manner.

Please note that Statistics Canada neither sells commercial products nor offers prizes online.

To accommodate Canadians' preferences, Statistics Canada is now using text messaging, in addition to phone calls and email, to remind selected survey participants to complete their online questionnaire. This will help to ensure we have high participation rates for our surveys, which will allow us to continue to produce high-quality data. Our text message short code is 782-782. Standard message rates may apply.
