Participate in the consultation for the new Canadian Classification of Research and Development (CRDC)

Introduction

The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), and Statistics Canada are collaborating on the development of a new single Canadian Research and Development Classification (CRDC) 2019. This shared standard classification will be used by the federal granting agencies and will align Canada with international research and development classification standards.

Objective of the consultation

Canadians, in particular members of the research community, are invited to provide feedback on the proposed CRDC to ensure it represents modern and Canadian research landscapes. Members of the research community also have the opportunity to comment on whether their field of research is adequately classified or represented.

Closing date

This consultation is opened from February 11, 2019 to March 22, 2019.

How to provide feedback during the consultation?

This consultation is now closed.

Consultation on the Canadian Research and Development Classification through an online questionnaire is no longer available.

The federal granting agencies and Statistics Canada will take into account feedback received from this consultation to finalize the new Canadian Research and Development Classification, which will be published in late 2019.

A report summarizing the findings of this consultation will be published on the Statistics Canada website by fall 2019.
