New data on "smoking stages of change and tobacco alternatives" from the rapid response component of the Canadian Community Health Survey – Annual Component are now available.
Note to readers
The data were collected from January to July 2023 from respondents aged 18 years and older living in the provinces.
The rapid response on smoking stages of change asked respondents who were current cigarette smokers about their intentions to quit smoking in the next six months. The rapid response on tobacco alternatives asked all respondents to assess their use of alternative tobacco products, such as cigars, cigarillos or little cigars, a pipe, a water pipe or snuff or chewing tobacco.
The data are now available in the research data centres.
The addition of these questions to the Canadian Community Health Survey was sponsored by Health Canada.
