Canadian air carriers transported 89.9 million passengers in 2023, an increase of 32.3% from the 67.9 million passengers carried in 2022 and accounting for 95.5% of the 94.1 million passengers carried in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic.
These preliminary estimates provide a first look at key variables, including passengers, total traffic, revenues and expenses. The first look was introduced at the onset of the pandemic, to gauge impacts on commercial aviation in a timely manner.
