Statistics Canada is providing an advance estimate of sales in the manufacturing sector for May. Advance results indicate that total manufacturing sales increased 0.2% in May. The largest increases were in the aerospace product and parts industry group as well as the food product subsector.
This estimate was calculated based on a weighted response rate of 67.6%. The average final response rate for the survey over the previous 12 months has been 94.5%. As Statistics Canada continues to collect data for the May reference month, this early indicator is subject to a higher revision rate than our regular monthly release.

This flash estimate is a special product published to provide Canadians with timely information on the manufacturing sector. The official estimate of manufacturing sales for the month of May, which will be based on a more complete set of survey and administrative data, is scheduled for release on July 15.
