Statistics Canada is providing an advance estimate of sales in the manufacturing sector for December. Advance results indicate that total manufacturing sales rose 0.6% in December. The largest increases were in the petroleum and coal product as well as food subsectors.
This estimate was calculated based on a weighted response rate of 68.9%. The average final response rate for the survey over the previous 12 months was 93.6%. As Statistics Canada continues to collect data for the December reference month, this early indicator is subject to a higher revision rate than our regular monthly release.

This advance estimate is a special product published to provide Canadians with timely information on the manufacturing sector. The official estimate of manufacturing sales for the month of December 2024, which will be based on a more complete set of survey and administrative data, is scheduled for release on February 14, 2025.
