Did you know that Statistics Canada conducts the Canadian Health Survey on Children and Youth (CHSCY)?
The CHSCY aims to provide important insights on the health and well-being of children and youth in Canada. The survey covers topics such as mental health, access to a regular health care provider and care needs. It also collects information on long-term conditions and substance use.
There are two parts to the survey: one for parents or guardians of children aged 1 to 17 years and one for youth aged 12 to 17 years. Statistics Canada is conducting the survey from September 10, 2025, to January 4, 2026.
You can make a difference
The data collected from parents and youth will provide a better understanding of factors that affect the physical and mental health of children and youth. They may be used by decision makers to monitor health trends, help inform policies and improve the support young people need to lead healthy lives.
Check out previously released results from the survey: Healthcare access among children and youth aged 1 to 17 in Canada: Results from the 2023 Canadian Health Survey on Children and Youth, cross-sectional component.
