Total sales of refined petroleum products to end-users stood at 89.6 million cubic metres in 2024, an increase of 0.7% from 2023.
Sales by fuel type
Sales of motor gasoline increased 0.4% to 43.7 million cubic metres in 2024, while sales of diesel fuel oil edged up 0.4% to 29.6 million cubic metres. Sales of motor gasoline (48.8%) and diesel fuel oil (33.0%) made up most sales of refined petroleum products in 2024.
Sales of aviation turbo fuel totalled 8.7 million cubic metres in 2024, up 3.0% from a year earlier. Sales of light fuel oil (heating oil) increased by 16.3% to 1.6 million cubic metres in 2024.
Sales to end-users
In 2024, refineries sold 15.9 million cubic metres of motor gasoline to gasoline stations, up 3.4% compared with the previous year. Sales of diesel fuel oil to gasoline stations decreased 2.7% to 2.4 million cubic metres in 2024.
Sales of all fuels to the road transportation industry increased to 6.8 million cubic metres in 2024, up 2.0% from 2023.
Sales of all fuels to the Canadian air transportation industry went up 7.1% from 2023 to reach 7.4 million cubic metres in 2024.
