Nearly four years ago, we launched the StatsCAN app to bring Canada’s data story right to your fingertips. Since then, your engagement and feedback have shaped the app’s evolution, and we’re grateful for the community that’s grown around it.
After careful consideration, we are announcing that the StatsCAN app will be decommissioned, meaning that it is shutting down permanently. This decision was influenced by several factors following a thorough analysis of the agency’s evolving priorities. While this marks the end of our mobile app journey, we remain dedicated to meeting your data needs and improving our digital offerings.
What’s next?
As of January 2, 2026, limited support will be available for the app, with no security updates, bug fixes or technical maintenance. You’ll also notice a gradual reduction in the number of publications, leading up to the final article, scheduled to be released in the app on March 3, 2026.
As we begin the decommissioning process, we invite you to:
- continue accessing essential data and key insights on Statistics Canada’s website: https://www.statcan.gc.ca
- consult the Stay connected for even more ways to stay informed and engaged, including social media channels and our podcast
- sign up for My StatCan to stay up to date on specific subjects of interest.
While previously downloaded versions may remain temporarily accessible, you may consider deleting the app from your devices because content will no longer be updated after March 3, 2026, and the app may stop functioning after that date.
Thank you for being part of this chapter with us! Your insights and participation have been invaluable.
