The Longitudinal Immigration Database (IMDB) team is pleased to announce the release of the 2021 IMDB children data module.
According to the latest IMDB, since 1980, over 2 million immigrants admitted to Canada were less than 18 years of age at the time of admission. This represents almost a quarter of immigrants admitted during that timeframe. The IMDB's Children module allows the study of the impact of childhood socioeconomic conditions on their economic outcomes in adulthood.
Along with the release of the data module, a data table has been published for public use (43-10-0075-01). The table includes data on admission cohort, age at admission, broad admission categories, the number of year(s) an immigrant child lived in a low-income household, and the economic outcomes in adulthood. The table also includes data for the cohort of all Canadian taxfilers to serve as a comparative benchmark.
