In April, the business closure rate (4.4%) dropped for the second consecutive month to settle below its 2015-to-2019 historical average of 4.6%. As in March 2022, the business opening rate decreased by 0.2 percentage points in April and was equal to its historical average of 4.7%. The number of active businesses grew by 0.3% (+2,709) as openings remained higher than closures.
