StatsCAN Plus

App-y Birthday!

January 31, 2024, 11:00 a.m. (EST)

If you’re reading this article on our mobile app, thank you for downloading and using it!

We launched the StatsCAN app two years ago today, with the goal of modernizing the way we reach Canadians and providing our data at their fingertips, in an easy-to-use format. Since then, over 18,000 users have downloaded it, up from more than 10,000 a year ago.

Our own data tell us there are a lot of mobile users. According to the Canadian Internet Use Survey, 95% of Canadians aged 15 and older used the Internet in 2022, and 85% of Canadians used a smartphone to do so.

Over three in four Canadians accessed the news (76.9%), researched for information about goods or services (76.3%), and used government online services (76.3%) in 2022.

Over the course of the last year, we have enhanced the Publications screen by simplifying the presentation of your preferred content and the overall screen designs. We’ve also reduced the number of steps needed to start using the app.

Stay tuned for push notifications, which will provide direct and timely updates on your topics of interest, and more!

As always, we appreciate your feedback. Please leave us a review, so we can continue to improve the app or feel free to reach out to our team at statcan.statscanapp-applistatscan.statcan@statcan.gc.ca.

You can download the app in the App Store or Google Play if you haven’t already, and tell your friends and family about it.

Happy reading from the app team!
