Trips to Canada by overseas residents continue to increase
In December 2025, the number of Canadian-resident return trips from the United States was down 25.0% year over year, while the number of trips to Canada by US residents decreased 7.5%. In contrast, both the number of Canadian-resident return trips from overseas (+12.9%) and the number of trips to Canada by overseas residents (+14.1%) increased.

Real gross domestic product rises in December
Real gross domestic product (GDP) rose 0.2% in December, driven by increases in both services-producing and goods-producing industries. The manufacturing sector rose 1.2% in December, partially offsetting the back-to-back monthly declines in October and November, with expansions in durable-goods and non-durable-goods manufacturing industries.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, women's contribution to gross domestic product increased relative to men's
A new study investigates whether women's contributions were disrupted differently than men's during the COVID-19 pandemic years (2020 to 2023). From 2019 to 2022, the share of men's GDP decreased from 49.2% to 47.1% while women's share decreased by relatively less (from 28.7% to 27.9%)—meaning that women's contribution to GDP increased slightly relative to men.
Price gains lead to higher livestock receipts in 2025
Farm cash receipts in Canada totalled $101.4 billion in 2025, up $3.3 billion (+3.4%) from 2024. In 2025, receipts for livestock (+$5.3 billion) drove the increase while lower receipts for crops (-$871.5 million) and program payments (-$1.1 billion) moderated the rise in total receipts. Total livestock receipts rose 13.2% to $45.3 billion in 2025 as a result of higher prices for almost all livestock sectors.
Majority of businesses and organizations who did not offer accessibility features did not see benefit in them
In the fourth quarter of 2025, more than one-third (37.3%) of businesses or organizations using social media provided accessibility features for it in the 12 previous months. This compared with 34.3% for printed materials, 27.1% for virtual communication, and 21.9% for communication in person or over the phone. Almost two-thirds (65.6%) of businesses and organizations who did not provide accessibility features in the 12 previous months said that it would not benefit them.
