Data source for Chart 31.3 is a line chart showing Canada's international travel deficit from 2005 to 2010. It shows the receipts, the payments and the resulting balance.

Receipts were relatively stable from 2005, when they were $16.7 billion, to 2010, when they were $16.2 billion.

Payments increased from $21.9 billion in 2005 to $28.6 billion in 2008. They decreased slightly in 2009 to $27.7 billion before increasing to a peak of $30.5 billion in 2010.

The balance decreased steadily from negative $5.2 billion in 2005 to negative $14.3 billion in 2010.
