Answer

To the question: Which trades occupations experienced the highest unemployment rates during the recession of the 1990s?

The correct answer is A: Masons, carpenters, and other construction trades.

During the recession of the early 1990s, the unemployment rate in the trades was substantially higher than in other occupations. But not all trades experienced the same impact from the business cycle. Other construction trades, masons and carpenters had the highest rates of unemployment, approaching 25%. This was far higher than the peak for mechanics (9.7%) and electricians (10.2%) in 1992.
