To the question: The vast majority of minimum-wage workers are women age 25 to 54 and youth. What was the share of these groups among all minimum-wage earners in 2009? A. 70% or B. More than 80%?

The correct answer is B: Women age 25 to 54 and youth made up 81% of all minimum-wage workers in 2009.  Women are more likely than men to work for minimum wage. Teenagers and young adults usually attend school while working at minimum-wage jobs.

Close to 10% of minimum-wage workers were older persons, age 55 and over.

Almost 60% of minimum-wage workers had part-time jobs, compared with less than 20% for all employees.
