This is a line chart that illustrates the percentage of males and females by age group in Canada in 2006.

The Y axis is measured by percentages and increases by increments of 10 from 0 to 90.

On the X axis from left to right are the following age groups: 0 to 4, 5 to 9, 10 to 14, 15 to 19, 20 to 24, 25 to 29, 30 to 34, 35 to 39, 40 to 44, 45 to 49, 50 to 54, 55 to 59, 60 to 64, 65 to 69, 70 to 74, 75 to 79, 80 to 84, 85 to 89, 90 to 94, 95 to 99 and 100 or older.

Initially, the top line represents males and the bottom line represents females.  At age group 45 to 49 the lines cross and thereafter the top line represents females and the bottom line represents males.

The percentages of males and females by age group are as follows:

  • 0 to 4 years of age, males 51.5%, females 48.5%,

  • 5 to 9 years of age, males 51.3%, females 48.7%,

  • 10 to 14 years of age, males 51.1%, females 48.9%,

  • 15 to 19 years of age, males 51.4%, females 48.6%,

  • 20 to 24 years of age, males 51.2%, females 48.8%,

  • 25 to 29 years of age, males 50.3%, females 49.7%,

  • 30 to 34 years of age, males 50.3%, females 49.7%,

  • 35 to 39 years of age, males 50.5%, females 49.5%,

  • 40 to 44 years of age, males 50.4%, females 49.6%,

  • 45 to 49 years of age, males 50.1%, females 49.9%,

  • 50 to 54 years of age, males 49.6%, females 50.4%,

  • 55 to 59 years of age, males 49.4%, females 50.6%,

  • 60 to 64 years of age, males 49.2%, females 50.8%,

  • 65 to 69 years of age, males 48.2%, females 51.8%,

  • 70 to 74 years of age, males 46.8%, females 53.2%,

  • 75 to 79 years of age, males 44.1%, females 55.9%,

  • 80 to 84 years of age, males 39.1%, females 60.9%,
