This is a line chart that illustrates the age–standardized percentage of males and females aged 12 or older who reported pain or discomfort that prevents activities from 2000/2001 to 2008. 

The Y axis is measured by percentages and increases by increments of 5 from 0 to 35.

On the X axis from left to right are the years 2000/2001, 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2008.

The top line represents the females and the bottom line represents males who reported pain or discomfort that prevents activities.

The age–standardized percentage of females who reported pain or discomfort that prevents activities decreased from 13.4% in 2000/2001 to 12.2% in 2003 and to 11.9% in 2005.  Then it increased to 12.8% in 2007 and to 13.9% in 2008.

The age–standardized percentage of males who reported pain or discomfort that prevents activities decreased from 9.4% in 2000/2001 to 7.8% in 2003.  It then increased to 8.5% in 2005 to 8.9% in 2007 and to 9.8% in 2008.

In 2003, the age–standardized percentage of both females and males aged 12 or older who reported pain or discomfort that prevents activities was significantly lower than 2000/2001 at p<0.05. 

In 2007, the age–standardized percentage of females aged 12 or older who reported pain or discomfort that prevents activities was significantly higher than 2005 at p<0.05. 

In 2008, the age–standardized percentage of both females and males aged 12 or older who reported pain or discomfort that prevents activities was significantly higher than 2007 at p<0.05. 

The data have been age–standardized to the 1991 Canadian population.
