This is a vertical bar graph that illustrates the percentage of men aged 18 to 79 that fall within each of the body mass index (BMI) categories, by age groups.
The Y axis represents the percentage of the male population and increases by increments of 10.0 from 0.0 up to 60.0.
On the X axis from left to right are the BMI categories: underweight, normal weight, overweight and a combination category for obese classes I, II and III. These categories are further divided by the following age groups: total, 18 to 39, 40 to 59 and 60 to 79.
The results are the following:
- Underweight: total 0.8%
- Normal weight: total 31.0%, 18 to 39 44.2%, 40 to 59 20.6%, 60 to 79 24.7%
- Overweight: total 44.1%, 18 to 39 36.2%, 40 to 59 51.9%, 60 to 79 44.3%
- Obese class I, II, III: total 24.2%, 18 to 39 18.4%, 40 to 59 26.9%, 60 to 79 29.1%
The data for the underweight category is only published for the total population, as the coefficient of variation was too high for smaller age groups.
