Notes:
  1. In 1971, female farm labourers who were unpaid family workers and who "helped without pay" for fewer than 20 hours a week were excluded from the employed category and classified as "not in the labour force." However, in subsequent censuses this group of female farm labourers has been classified as employed.
  2. In the 1971 Census, Taiwan was included in China.
  3. In the 1991 Census, it was called the Federated Republic of Germany. In the 1986 Census it included West Germany and East Germany; in 1971 it was called Germany.
  4. In the 1971 Census, Paraguay was included in "Other South America."
  5. In 1996 and 2001 censuses, it was called Ireland, Republic of (Eire).

  1. In 1971, female farm labourers who were unpaid family workers and who "helped without pay" for fewer than 20 hours a week were excluded from the employed category and classified as "not in the labour force."
