Description for figure 1
The title of this figure is “Compact fluorescent lights: Uptake per city.” This infographic is a scatter chart. The data points for census metropolitan areas (CMAs) are represented by light bulbs that go brighter as uptake increases and disposal decreases. Bulbs for CMAs range in colour from green to white, with the higher the uptake the paler the colour. CMAs in the top right quadrant have high rates of uptake of CFLs and low rates of disposal of CFLs in the garbage. It includes Hamilton, Toronto, London, Windsor, Oshawa, St. Catharines-Niagara, Calgary and Ottawa-Gatineau. CMAs in the bottom right quadrant have high rates of uptake of CFLs and high rates of disposal of CFLs in the garbage. It includes Winnipeg, Regina and St. John’s. CMAs in the bottom left quadrant have low rates of uptake of CFLs and high rates of disposal of CFLs in the garbage. It includes Halifax, Québec, Saskatoon, Abbotsford-Mission, Montréal and Saguenay. CMAs in the top left quadrant have low rates of uptake of CFLs and low rates of disposal of CFLs in the garbage. It includes Vancouver, Sherbrooke and Edmonton. There is a highlight box in the lower right hand corner that states: “81%: Highest uptake of compact fluorescent lights, Toronto and London.”
The vertical axis is percent.
The vertical axis starts at 85 at the bottom of the page and ends at 25 at the top of the page, with ticks very 5 points.
The horizontal axis is percent.
The horizontal axis starts at 50 and ends at 100 with ticks every 5 points.
There are two series in this figure.
The title of series 1 is uptake.
