Treatment methods — Population served, operation and maintenance costs and potable water volumes, by treatment category
Table summary
This table displays the population served by and the operation and maintenance costs of drinking water plants broken down by treatment category, as well as potable water volumes broken down by source water type and treatment category for 2011. The row headers are comprised of the all treatment categories total and 12 treatment categories. The column headers are comprised of Treatment category (above the row headers), Population served, Operation and maintenance costs, and Potable water volumes, the latter broken down into three source water type subheaders: Surface water; Groundwater and groundwater under the direct influence of surface water; and Total. The units of measure are as follows: persons for Population served, millions of dollars for Operation and maintenance costs, and millions of cubic metres for Potable water volumes. The Operation and maintenance costs have a note that reads "Includes costs related to the acquisition and treatment, but not the distribution, of water." The Treatment category header has a note that reads "Plants were assigned to a category based on the reported treatment processes in section 3 of the questionnaire. Refer to Appendix I for the main processes applied in each treatment category." The table has a note which reads "Figures may not add up to totals due to rounding."
