Canadian international trade in services, March 2025

Canada's monthly international trade in services deficit narrowed from $0.6 billion in February to $0.4 billion in March. Overall, imports of services declined 0.9% to $18.1 billion, while exports of services edged up 0.3% to $17.7 billion.
Imports of transportation services fell 5.3% to $3.1 billion in March, as services related to the transportation of goods declined alongside lower imports of goods. Imports of travel services declined 2.9% to $4.7 billion in March, due to lower spending by Canadian-resident travellers in the United States. Imports of commercial services increased 1.5% to $10.2 billion in March, led by higher imports of financial services.
Exports of transportation services were up 3.6% to $2.0 billion in March, while exports of commercial services edged down 0.2% to $10.2 billion.

Total imports of goods declined 1.5% to $70.4 billion in March and total exports of goods edged down 0.2% to $69.9 billion. This resulted in the goods trade deficit narrowing from $1.4 billion in February to $0.5 billion in March. Combined, the trade balance for goods and services amounted to a deficit of $0.9 billion in March.
