Purpose of the Survey

This survey is being conducted every second month to collect the prices of prescribed drugs. The prices you report are essential to the production of the Consumer Price Index (CPI), an important indicator of how the Canadian economy is performing. This index, used by governments, businesses and private citizens, affects interest rates, taxes, wages, pensions and many other monetary transfers.Your information may also be used by Statistics Canada for other statistical and research purposes.

Statistics Canada is prohibited by law from releasing any information it collects which could identify any person, business, or organization, unless consent has been given by the respondent or as permitted by the Statistics Act. a) For each brand name drug listed below, please provide the Name, the Drug Identification Number (DIN), the total price including the dispensing fee for the quantity and strength indicated and the associated drug dispensing fee (DDF), if available.

The price provided should be on a cash payment basis (uninsured) and should be provided for the current month only.

b) For all subsequent data collection months, price the same brand name drug that was reported for the previous period.

c) If that drug is no longer available for sale, provide the information (for the same strength and quantity) for another brand name drug, within the same therapeutic class.

d) Please use the comments section on page 7 to provide reasons for changes to reported data.

Notice of update of the National Occupational Classification (NOC) 2011

May 1, 2012 (Previous notice)

This is an information notice.

The following revisions have been made to NOC 2011. Examples were added to 0621 Retail and wholesale trade managers, 0651 Managers in customer and personal services, n.e.c., 1123 Professional occupations in advertising, marketing and public relations and 5211 Library and public archive technicians. An example in 4163 Business development officers and marketing researchers and consultants was revised. Examples were removed from 0124 Advertising, marketing and public relations managers. Exclusions were added to 4031 Secondary school teachers, 4032 Elementary school and kindergarten teachers and 5111 Librarians. Exclusion statements were revised in 1211 Supervisors, general office and administrative support workers, 1241 Administrative assistants, 4166 Education policy researchers, consultants and program officers, 5112 Conservators and curators, 6523 Airline ticket and service agents, 6524 Ground and water transport ticket agents, cargo service representatives and related clerks, 6531 Tour and travel guides and 6622 Store shelf stockers, clerks and order fillers. Changes were made within the lead statement of 6315 Cleaning supervisors and within the employment requirements of 3125 Other professional occupations in health diagnosing and treating. A revised PDF was issued on May 31, 2012.
