The primary objective of the International Travel Survey (ITS) is to provide statistics on travelers to and from Canada.  This includes detailed characteristics of their trips such as expenditures, activities, places visited and length of stay.

This information helps governments, municipalities, agencies and the tourism industry develop policies, products and services that correspond to travelers’ needs as well as measure the contribution of international tourism to the Canadian economy.

The information may also be used by Statistics Canada for other statistical and research purposes

Collection periods:
Monthly period from January 15, 2017 to December 31, 2017.
Collection methods:
Personal Interview using paper questionnaire and tablets and electronic questionnaire
