What is Pulse 2026: Insights on Public Service Employee Survey Participation (PSES-P)?
This short survey gathers feedback on employees' experience with the 2024 Public Service Employee Survey (PSES). It aims to understand what encourages or discourages participation and how future surveys can be improved.
How is the pulse survey conducted?
The pulse survey is administered to randomly selected federal public service employees and collected using an electronic questionnaire. Responding to this survey is voluntary. Respondents will receive an email invitation from Statistics Canada, with a secure access code to access the survey online. The link received should not be forwarded or shared with any other colleagues. The survey can be completed using a computer or any mobile device, such as a smartphone or tablet.
How long does it take to complete the pulse survey?
This questionnaire will take about 10 mins to complete.
How was the pulse survey developed?
The pulse survey was developed in partnership with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) and Statistics Canada. TBS initially designed the pulse survey questionnaire which was then tested by Statistics Canada through qualitative interviews with public servants.

Your responses will be used to improve how employee surveys are designed, carried out, and promoted, and will help shape future employee engagement strategies, making surveys more inclusive and impactful.

The pulse survey is conducted under the authority of the Statistics Act, which ensures that the information provided will be kept confidential. Statistics Canada does not release any information that could identify individuals. Various confidentiality rules are applied to all data that are released or published to prevent the disclosure of any information deemed confidential. If necessary, data are suppressed to prevent direct or residual disclosure of identifiable data.
