The main objective of the Digital Economy Survey is to gather information about Canadians' participation in the digital economy. The information collected in this survey will be used to:
- fill important statistical data gaps related to the digital economy;
- improve our understanding of how consumption and purchasing patterns are changing;
- better understand the various methods of earning money in a digitalized world.
Your information may also be used by Statistics Canada for other statistical and research purposes.

Collection methods:
Data are collected directly from survey respondents either through an electronic questionnaire (EQ) or through CATI (computer assisted telephone interviewing).

Data are collected under the authority of the Statistics Act, Revised Statutes of Canada, 1985, Chapter S-19. Your information will be kept strictly confidential.
Data sharing agreements and record linkage
To enhance the data from this survey and to reduce the response burden, Statistics Canada may combine the information you provide with data from other surveys or administrative sources.
