This survey is conducted on behalf of Fertilizer Canada and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, to produce statistics on shipments of fertilizer in Canada by manufacturers, wholesale distributors and major retail distributors. This information is essential to support Canada's international reporting obligations of inventory of greenhouse gas emissions.

The information you provide may also be used by Statistics Canada for other statistical and research purposes.

Collection periods:
For 2019, the collection start dates will be April 1, July 1, and October 1, 2019, and January 1, 2020. The collection window is three weeks (however, some questionnaires may be received later).
Collection methods:
The data are collected through a process providing respondents with the option of telephone, fax or electronic filing methods.

    Data are collected under the authority of the Statistics Act, Revised Statutes of Canada, 1985, Chapter S-19.

    By law, Statistics Canada is prohibited from releasing any information it collects that could identify any person, business, or organization, unless consent has been given by the respondent, or as permitted by the Statistics Act. Statistics Canada will use the information from this survey for statistical purposes only.
