    What are the objectives of this survey?

    Employment and Social Development Canada employees can help identify the key factors in the work environment that affect their well-being by taking part in the ESDC Employee Wellness Survey. Topics include work-life balance, job satisfaction and performance, as well as training and development opportunities.

    The survey results will inform ESDC managers and employees about strengths and areas for improvement and will be used to assess conditions in the work environment at ESDC. The results will also serve to inform strategies that meet the needs of ESDC employees and optimize their well-being.

    How is this survey conducted?

    Statistics Canada is conducting the first cycle of the ESDC Employee Wellness Survey from September 21, 2022 to October 21, 2022.

    Responding to the ESDC Employee Wellness Survey is voluntary. The survey is administered to active ESDC employees, including the Labour Program and Service Canada. The collection is done using an electronic questionnaire.

    How long does it take to complete the survey?

    It takes approximately 30 minutes to complete the electronic questionnaire.

    How was this survey developed?

    A scientific lens was used to develop the Employee Wellness Survey with the goal of identifying and measuring the workplace psychosocial factors that are key drivers of psychological health among employees.

    The development strategy involved extensively consulting with the scientific literature as well as leading researchers in organizational and occupational psychology in order to select scientifically established and actionable variables as central indicators of psychological health; well-established and statistically sound measures that could be mapped onto the psychosocial factor definitions of the National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace; and outcomes associated with psychological health.

    You can help identify the key factors in your work environment that affects your well-being. By participating in this survey, you will have the opportunity to express your views, share your experiences, and help create a positive workplace for everyone at ESDC.

    How will you safeguard the confidentiality of my information?

    As with all Statistics Canada surveys, any information you provide will remain confidential pursuant to the Statistics Act. Statistics Canada takes the privacy of Canadians very seriously. Published data can never identify you. To find out more about the measures in place to safeguard the confidentiality of your information, visit Statistics Canada's Trust Centre.

    When will the results be available?

    Results will be released in spring 2023. An analytical report based on these data will be produced by Statistics Canada, and announced in The Daily, Statistic Canada's official release bulletin.
