Definition
Proportion of the population with supplemental health insurance for selected coverage.
Measurement
This indicator is measured in Survey on Health Care Access and Experiences (SHCAE-PSC) and the Survey on Health Care Access and Experiences – Virtual Care and Pharmaceuticals (SHCAE-VCP). For this indicator, persons with access to supplementary health insurance are those who have insurance, either through their own plan or through someone else's (e.g., private, government, non-insured health benefit, or employer-paid plans), that covers all or some of the costs of their prescription medications.
Survey respondents are asked:
Do you have insurance that covers all or part of the cost of your prescription medications?
