In the fourth quarter, visitors from the United States and overseas countries made 5.7 million trips to Canada, representing 88.3% of the number of trips taken in the same quarter of 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic. From October to December 2023, more than three-quarters (77.4%) of these trips were made by US residents.
In the last quarter of 2023, spending by non-resident travellers to Canada totalled $4.4 billion, up 11.7% from the fourth quarter of 2019. Spending by US residents accounted for 52.6% of total visitor spending from October to December 2023.
